Land surface area covers 49,035 square kilometres
Population count stands at 5,379,455. The majority of the population 85,8 % if of Slovak nationality with the remaining 14,2 % being divided mostly between Hungarian, Roma, Rusins, Ukrainians and other minority representatives.
The capital is Bratislava with a population of 430 000.

Slovakia is located in the eastern part of Central Europe. It borders Poland in the north, Ukraine in the east, Hungary in the south, Austria in the south-west and Czech Republic in the north-west. 
Climate in Slovakia is continental with relatively warm summers and cold, cloudy and humid winters.
Although Slovakia is not a large country, the weather can be quite different in the montainous North and in the plain South.
